The aim of the conference is to explore the applicational potential of SFL in the analysis of the creation and exchange of meaning between people. We also welcome presentations that do not address the conference theme but deal with systemic functional theory more generally. Plenary speakers: Christian Matthiessen (Macquarie University), Theo van Leeuwen (University of Technology Sydney), Jim Martin (Sydney University), Michael Toolan (University of Birmingham), Michael O'Toole, (Murdoch University), David Banks (Université de Bretagne Occidentale), Elke Teich (Technische Universität Darmstadt), Bodil Hedeboe (Stockholms Universitet).
