We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.
In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have taken the trouble to respond to the query.
To post to LINGUIST, use our convenient web form at http://linguistlist.org/LL/posttolinguist.html.

Subject: Dictionaries Wanted
I am looking for dictionaries (in electronic format) that could be employed in a hand-held electronic crossword puzzle product that I am developing. For each word in the dictionary I need only the definition(s) of the words. The definitions will then become the clues for the crossword puzzles. A license fee (or donation to charity) will be paid for any dictionary used. Wordnet will probably suffice for American English, but I am looking for dictionaries for British English, French, German, Dutch, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian. I would very much appreciate any help with any of these languages, or pointers in the right direction? Kind regards, David Levy, London. davidlevylondon yahoo.com
