Primary responsibilities include teaching all levels of undergraduate Spanish language as well as courses required for the Secondary Education Minor (5-12) certification in Massachusetts. The teacher preparation program consists of a methods instruction course and supervision of student teachers in collaboration with the School of Education and Allied Studies. Other responsibilities include advising students, service to college community and an active research agenda. Required Minimum Qualifications: 1) An earned PhD in Spanish Language Pedagogy, Second Language Acquisition, Foreign Language Teaching or Spanish Applied Linguistics, by August 31, 2007 2) Teaching experience at the college or secondary school level 3) Familiarity with ACTFL standards 4) Native or near native fluency in Spanish 5) Certification or ability to obtain certification to teach at the secondary level. Preferred Minimum Qualifications: Familiarity with NCATE; experience supervising student-teachers; training in oral proficiency testing; and directing Study Abroad programs. Salary at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, depending on qualifications.
