The LSA recently sent a letter to the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) regarding the use of language codes in the Office Open XML (OOXML) document format, which is being proposed as an ISO standard. The letter advocates the use of the ISO 639-3 language code system in OOXML since this is the only existing coding system which attempts to cover all of the world's languages.
