The position is at the rank of a full-time 'Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter' (workload: approx. 40 hours per week). The salary is determined by the German civil servants standard ('Entgeltgruppe 13 nach TV-L'). Employment will be for two years, and can possibly be extended for up to five years. Teaching will start April 2007. Duties for this post include teaching classes in Synchronic English Linguistics, American English pronunciation and phonology, communication skills, grammar etc. to undergraduate and graduate students majoring in English. Teaching workload is up to 16 hours a week. You will also be required to take part in student counselling, proofreading and editing and in developing tests and testing methods. Successful candidates should - possess an excellent MA (or equivalent) in Linguistics, preferably from an American university - have the motivation and the ability for superior teaching, - have excellent language skills for teaching classes in English, - enjoy working in a team and support a close connection between teaching and research. Previous teaching experience at the college or university level and a working knowledge of German are of advantage.
