The ideal candidate has some years of postdoctoral experience, teaching experience including the teaching of practical phonetic skills, and a record of high-quality publications commensurate to the stage of their academic career. He or she will contribute to the department's research, teaching, supervision and administration. Applicants will hold a doctorate in phonetics, linguistics or speech sciences, will have research expertise in an area of phonetics such as English phonetics, sociophonetics, experimental phonetics, clinical phonetics or forensic phonetics, and a willingness and ability to engage with researchers working in the interfacing areas of speech sciences and phonology. Applicants must have the ability to develop a programme of original research in phonetics that enhances the departmental research portfolio and that can give rise to PhD projects and applications for postdoctoral fellowships. The position is available from 1 August 2007 and the successful candidate will need to be in post by 1 October 2007. The appointment will be made at Grade 8 of the UCL salary range: currently £32,795-£39,160 p.a. plus £2,497 London Allowance, dependent on experience.
