The Cluster of Excellence "Languages of Emotion" at the Freie Universität Berlin invites applications for: Six post-doctoral grants The research cluster is dedicated to the complex interrelations between the use of signs/symbols, the transfer of emotions, aesthetic practices, mental dispositions and affective modes of constructing both personal and social identities. The cluster is composed of four research areas: (A) Representation/production of emotion in language and non-linguistic media; (B) Poetics of affect in the arts and art-related discourses; (C) Emotional competence and affective disorders and (D) Cultural codifications of emotions. For more detailed information on the research areas and the modalities of the grants please see the Cluster's website. Three of the six grants are to be awarded for Research Area B. The other grants are not specified for one of the other research areas but projects/ applications must be pertinent to their objectives. Preference will be given to projects in the field of emotion research corresponding to the particular interdisciplinary thrust of the Cluster. Please send your complete application papers (6-8 page outline of the research project; curriculum vitae; letter of recommendation, authenticated copies of your graduation certificates; two samples of your work not exceeding five pages in length; and a list of recent publications) to the mailing address provided below.
