Tufts University - Music, Language, and the Mind Date: 10-Jul-2008 - 13-Jul-2008 Location: Medford, MA, USA Contact: Jessica Shepard Meeting URL: http://musicandlanguage.tufts.edu Linguistic Field(s): Cognitive Science; General Linguistics Meeting Description: Tufts University is hosting a conference on music and language July 10-13, 2008 at the Perry and Marty Granoff Music Center. Music, Language, and the Mind follows the successful conference held at Cambridge University, UK in May 2007 on music and language as cognitive systems. We will also be honoring Ray Jackendoff, Seth Merrin Professor of Philosophy at Tufts, and Fred Lerdahl, Fritz Reiner Professor of Music at Columbia University. This year marks the 25th anniversary of their seminal work: A Generative Theory of Tonal Music. For more information about the conference, please visit our website at: http://musicandlanguage.tufts.edu/. The conference organizing committee has been diligently working to develop the registration site for Music, Language, and the Mind, and we are happy to announce that registration is now open. The website to register can be found at: www.regonline.com/TuftsMusic. If you have any questions about registration, please contact the Provost Office at 617-627-3931.
