Description:
The Department of English & TESOL at Daegu Haany University, located in Daegu, Korea (the third largest city in Korea) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin September 1, 2008. Qualification: PhD degree in TESOL/Applied Linguistics or PhD degree in English or Linguistics with a specialization/dissertation in Applied Linguistics and Second Language Teaching/Learning. The successful applicant will have: a) Evidence of effective teaching b) Record of research and scholarly publication c) Ability to develop and teach graduate and undergraduate courses in TESOL or Applied Linguistics d) Ability to cooperate with colleagues e) Native or near-native fluency in English Duties (teaching load: 12 hours per week) a) Teaching and research in one or more of the following areas: TESOL/TEFL/Applied Linguistics b) Teaching in DHU-TESOL certificate program (refer to the program website: http://user.dhu.ac.kr/~tesol) c) Participation in departmental, university, and community affairs e) Student advising Remuneration and Benefits Salary offered will be highly competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. a) Between $45,000 and $50,000 for 12 months depending on qualifications b) Research grants, bonuses, health insurance, pension, and so on.
