This will be 0.8 of a full time post, with the duties performed during term time from mid September to the end of June. The successful candidate will be expected to provide training in Japanese language to degree students, and at different levels. The candidate will also serve as course convenor, design and deliver course plans and materials and assist junior teaching fellows, engage in subject, professional and pedagogy research in support of teaching, collaborate with other teachers and participate and contribute to departmental activities. Candidates will be expected to possess native-like competence in Japanese, be able to teach standard Japanese language in all the appropriate registers, and produce suitable course materials covering all four language skills. They will possess well developed written communication skills in Japanese and English, and have the ability to work to deadlines, both independently and as a member of a team. The individual will also have a teaching qualification, University level experience of teaching Japanese as a foreign language, and IT competence. The position will commence 15 September 2008.
