The Department of General Linguistics at the University of Muenster,
Germany would like to announce that applications for the new Master in
Linguistics (starting in the fall semester) will be considered until July
15th, 2008. The program focuses on research and thus provides an ideal
preparation for a doctoral program in linguistics.

The Master in Linguistics combines a strong emphasis on naturalistic data
with sophisticated methodological and theoretical reflection:

- Empirical:collecting, analyzing and archiving of linguistic data
(linguistic field work, descriptive linguistics, language documentation);
this includes use of state-of-the-art technology
-Theoretical: grammatical theory, linguistic typology, language
universals research; a special focus is placed on the interfaces between
social cognition, language structure and language use (discourse and
conversation analysis, anthropological linguistics)
-Cross-linguistic: major focus on non-standard varieties of
European languages and non-European languages

For further details, including admissions information, application
procedure, and illustrative schedule see
http://www.uni-muenster.de/Sprachwiss/en/Studieren/master.html or contact
Dr. René Schiering (renepunksinscience.org).
