Description:
The University of Hamburg invites applications for the position of a research assistant (wissenschaftliche(r) Angestellte) at the English Department. The position will be open from 1 October 2008 for a term of three years. Salary will be ranked according to the German E13 TVL scale (half-time). The successful applicant will collaborate in on-going research projects and teach one class of English linguistics per semester. Applicants must have completed a Masters degree in (English) linguistics and must be proficient in English and German. They should preferably have research interests and some prior experience in the areas of language typology, multilingualism, corpus linguistics, linguistic variation and/or linguistic theory. It is expected that they will work towards earning a PhD degree in English linguistics. Applicants should submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae and copies of their relevant diploma(s).
