Call for Papers The seminar has the focus to discuss most of the major issues in Linguistics like General Linguistics, Theoretical Linguistics, Historical Linguistics as well as Applied Linguistics (Which includes Computational Linguistics, Language Teaching, Neurolinguistics, Psycholinguistics, NLP, Sociolinguistics, Anthropological Linguistics, Language and Literature) The scholars and academicians of eminance from world around are expected to attend and make presentations in the seminar. The expected participants include Professor Kristena Beckman (USA), Professor Peter Hook (USA) Professor Hyrean Lee (Korea), Professor U N Singh, CIIL Mysore, Professor R Gargesh (University of Delhi), Professor Vaishna Narang Jawahar Lal Nehru (University New Delhi), Professor R V Dhongde Pune and others. Professor (DR) Riyaz Punjabi Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, The University of Kashmir Srinagar will preside over the inaugural function on 5th November 2008. The Abstract of the papers (not more than 400 words) should reach to the department by or before 15th September 2008. The academic committee will inform after 20th September regarding acceptance of the abstract. Only those participants will have the right to attend the seminar of international importance whose abstracts are approved by the academic committee of NSPL.

Nagaraja Meeting Email: aicl30pune gmail.com Web Site: http://www.lsi.org.in Linguistic Field(s): General Linguistics Call Deadline: 30-Aug-2008 Meeting Description: The year 2008 marks the Golden Jubilee of Post-Graduate Teaching in Linguistics at the Deccan College and also in India. So far around five hundred students have completed postgraduation in Linguistics from this Institute. In the same period around one hundred and fifty research scholars have obtained doctorate degrees. The 30th AICL will commemorate this significant event and chart the history and the future of the teaching of Linguistics in India. The conference is being held at the same venue as the first LSI Conference which was held in December 1970. The AICL will return to this campus after an interval of thirty-eight years! Call for Papers We welcome research papers on all aspects of linguistics related to Indian languages - covering phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, typology, historical and comparative linguistics, Indian grammatical tradition, language teaching, language technology and computational linguistics, clinical linguistics, translation studies, and literacy studies. We particularly invite survey-articles to (1) assess the teaching of Linguistics in the country, (2) trace the inception and growth of teaching departments in the country. Abstracts: Abstracts of research papers, not more than one A4 page (minimum margins: 2.5 cm or 1 inch; font size 12; single spacing) must be submitted both in .pdf and .doc formats. The abstract should start with the title of the paper, followed by name of the author(s), email address, affiliation and the abstract. Please send your abstract to aicl30pune gmail.com or to the mailing address provided below, latest by 30th August 2008. Only abstracts received by this date will be included in the Souvenir that will be brought out on the occasion. Acceptance of abstracts will be communicated latest by 1st October 2008. Travel and Accommodation: We will provide free accommodation only to the delegates on the Deccan College campus or in the guest houses/hostels of collaborating institutions. We will appreciate if participants can get their home institutions to depute them to the conference. Delegates who wish to have hotel accommodation at their own expense may contact the Organisers well in advance.
