UCSC Language Program: Job #352-09 The Language Program at the University of California, Santa Cruz, invites applications from candidates with innovative approaches to language study. One position is available at the rank of Assistant (tenure track), Associate or Full Professor (tenured). Candidates specializing in Applied Linguistics (SLA studies, language pedagogy, computer-assisted language learning, sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, pragmatics, intercultural communication, and related areas) are encouraged to apply. In addition to teaching and research, the candidate will also be expected to train and supervise graduate student apprentices. The candidate will be a key participant in current efforts to transform a program with an outstanding tradition in teaching into a department with an innovative research agenda. The language competency may be in any of the following: Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Hebrew, Hindi/Urdu, Italian, Portuguese, or Russian. The campus is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through outstanding research, effective teaching and committed service.
