Description:
City University of Hong Kong is one of eight tertiary institutions funded by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region through the University Grants Committee of Hong Kong. Currently, approximately 26,000 students are enrolled in over 180 programmes ranging from associate degrees to PhD. The medium of instruction is English. The University invites applications for the following post. Candidates with applied research achievements will receive very positive consideration. Relevant experience in business and industry will be a definite asset. Assistant Professor in Linguistics [Ref. C/900/09] Duties: Teach and supervise students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including BA, MA, MPhil and PhD. Requirements: A PhD in Linguistics or related disciplines, with specialization in cognitive processing of language, particularly in syntax, semantics and discourse processing. Candidates with knowledge of using electroencephalography, functional magnetic resonance imaging and with a proven record of publications or strong research potential would be of distinct advantage. Ability to teach courses in English and work well with colleagues is essential. Experience in experimental techniques for studying language in a broader context of mind/brain preferred. [The successful candidate is expected to assume duty in January 2009.
