Abstract:

Within linguistics, discourse linguistics has now become established as a
sub-discipline dealing with supratextual meaning relations and historically
and culturally based knowledge. A large number of individual studies have
been presented and the theoretical discussion is well advanced. What is
still lacking, however, is a soundly-based methodology, which is where this
volume comes in. The contributors present and discuss various investigative
procedures.
