Description:
The Faculty of Arts at the University of Zurich (Department of Classics) has an opening for an Assistant Professorship in Greek and Latin Linguistics. The position is to be filled as soon as possible and the contract is limited to a maximum of six years (initial three years with a possibility of extension for a further three years) Applicants should have completed a Habilitation (post-doctoral thesis) or hold a similar qualification in classical philology (Greek and Latin) with a specialisation in linguistics. In addition, the successful applicant should have a background in the field of historical linguistics/Indo-European philology. The University of Zurich seeks to increase the representation of women in teaching and research, and therefore particularly encourages applications from qualified women. The successful applicant will be expected to teach courses in the programs of Greek and/or Latin Linguistics and Literature. He/she will, therefore, be required to teach topics in the fields of syntax, semantics, morphology, phonology and word formation, as well as language change and to have a relevant research record.
