Description:
We are seeking a talented Knowledge Base Engineer to help us build, expand and refine taxonomies that serve as the basis of an intelligent search engine that matches jobs and candidates. If you are interested in natural language and are trained in linguistics or related field, if you like to research and organize new information, and would enjoy learning more about the wide range of jobs that exist in the world, then this might be the job for you. Essential functions: The ideal candidate will successfully build, enhance, test, and maintain in-house taxonomies, and assist with other areas of the development process. Specifically: - Proactively identify and develop concepts and terms for new industries or functional areas based on: *Data from in-house text analysis tools *Supporting research of secondary source materials *Consultation with Subject Matter Experts - Refine and improve existing definitions in the Knowledge Base - Contribute to job and resume test suites - Troubleshoot, fix, verify, and document reported matching problems - Maintain accurate, current records in our bug tracking system and documentation archives Qualifications: Educational background: - Minimum BA/BS and well-rounded education - Linguistic training and practical experience, especially in the fields of syntax, semantics, pragmatics, lexicography - Strong language skills, with foreign language ability a big plus - Some familiarity with computational linguistics, natural language processing, or text retrieval would be useful Relevant skills and experience: - Experience building or working with taxonomies or ontologies highly desirable - Interest in exploring, understanding and organizing data from fields outside your current areas of expertise - Strong logical, analytical, organizational abilities with a high level of common sense and excellent follow-through - Self-motivated, energetic, good attention to detail, fast learner - Some programming experience and use of scripting tools in a Unix/Linux environment - Commitment to meeting deadlines This position is located in Mountain View, CA, in a small start-up environment.
