Relevant experience in business and industry will be a definite asset. Assistant Professor in Linguistics [Ref. C/913/09] Department of Chinese, Translation and Linguistics Duties : Teach and supervise students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including BA, MA, MPhil and PhD; undertake teaching and research in one or more of the following areas: Electronic Publishing and Web-content Management/Language Technology and Computer Assisted Translation. Requirements : A PhD in Linguistics with adequate training or experience in linguistic computing. Knowledge of Chinese computing and ability to work well with colleagues essential. Candidates with a proven record of publications or strong research potential preferred. [The successful candidate is expected to assume duty in January 2009. Please specify discipline(s) in the application.] Salary and Conditions of Service Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental schemes, and housing benefits where applicable.
