Description:
We are seeking a lecturer in Chinese for a half-time post. The post is temporary, from 1 January 2009 to 31 December 2009, with the possibility of extension beyond that date. The post is based in Falun, Sweden. Demand for the subject has increased markedly in recent years and it is likely that if the post is extended it will be full-time. Duties: Responsibilities for this post are teaching, development and planning of courses at the introductory level. A significant portion of the teaching is done via distance-learning technology. Other responsibilities include participation in the development and administration of the subject area as a whole. Qualifications: Necessary qualifications for the post are: 1. Completion of undergraduate education (bachelor's degree) or the equivalent, 2. Pedagogical training or equivalent experience, 3. Demonstrated teaching ability (HF 4 kap 9 §). Criteria: Hiring criteria include the amount of expertise in the areas specified in the qualifications for the post, as well as administrative and other skills relevant to the duties described for the post. In addition, the applicant's skills at developing and leading cooperation with fellow staff members and the local community, as well as keeping informed about research and development in the subject area will be taken into account. Pedagogical and scientific expertise will be treated equally for the post. National goals regarding the job market, equality, and society will also be taken into consideration (HF 4 kap 15 §). Additional Qualifications: Applicants will preferably have a doctorate in the subject. Since the staff of the university's language department work closely together, a cooperative attitude is necessary for the position. Experience with teaching and course development as well as experience with internet-based learning is also of merit.
