The University of Konstanz is one of the top nine Universities in Germany. The Department of Linguistics invites applications for a 3-years appointment (with a possible extension of another 3 years) at the level of Assistant Professor in the area of syntactic theory and syntax of German / Germanic, to begin April 1, 2009, In principle, this position can be divided into two half-time positions. Candidates must have a strong doctoral record and must have shown excellence in research. Preference will be given to applicants with a second specialization in a related subfield such as semantics, psycholinguistics, or historical linguistics. Teaching requirement at the level of B.A.-, M.A.- and German Staatsexamen: two courses per semester (4 hrs per week). Proficiency in German required. Interest and participation in existing or planned research projects is a must.
