Call for Papers

The Fourth Newcastle Postgraduate Conference in Theoretical and Applied
Linguistics
Newcastle, 27th March, 2009

We are pleased to announce the Fourth Newcastle Postgraduate Conference in
Theoretical and Applied Linguistics.

We invite postgraduate students to submit abstracts for oral and poster
presentations on any area of linguistics, theoretical or applied (see below for
abstract submission guidelines).

This one-day conference is designed to give linguistics postgraduates from all
research areas an opportunity to present and discuss their research in an
informal and intellectually stimulating setting.

The conference takes place at Newcastle University on Friday 27th March, 2009,
in the Percy Building, Newcastle University, with a conference dinner in the
evening.

Professor Anders Holmberg (Newcastle University), and
Professor Zoltán Dörnyei (University of Nottingham) will be giving invited
plenary lectures at this year's conference.

Key Dates
Deadline for submission of abstracts: 3rd January, 2009
Notification of acceptance: early February, 2009
Pre-registration (for reduced rate): 1st March, 2009

Abstract Submission Guidelines
Abstract submission guidelines are available at
conferences.ncl.ac.uk/pglinguistics. Abstracts should be sent to
pgconflingncl.ac.uk. Email submissions only, please (Microsoft Word/PDF
format only).

Presentation Guidelines
Accepted abstracts will be allotted 20 minutes for presentation and 10 minutes
for discussion. There will be a dedicated poster session on the day of the
conference. Speakers will also be invited to submit their paper for publication
in the Newcastle Working Papers in Linguistics.

Roman (Title: 14 point, Body: 10 point). An optional second page is allowed only
for data and references. Submissions are limited to one individual and one joint
abstract per author, or two joint abstracts per author. The abstract should be
written by MS Word and be sent to both yjangcau.ac.kr and hkkangocu.ac.kr.

Please use 'SICOLI-2009 Abstract' as the subject of your e-mail and include in
your e-mail body the following information: (1) Name(s) of author(s), (2) Title
of your paper, (3) Affiliation, (4) Phone number, (5) E-mail address, (6)
Mailing address, and (7) Your designated topic of General Sessions.

All papers are allotted 30 minutes including 10-minute discussion and the
official language is English
