SPCL 2009 Summer Conference Cologne Short Title: SPCL 2009 Date: 11-Aug-2009 - 15-Aug-2009 Location: Cologne, Germany Contact: Dany Adone Contact Email: spcl-2009 uni-koeln.de Meeting URL: http://www.uni-koeln.de/phil-fak/englisch/abteilungen/adone/spcl2009/index.html Linguistic Field(s): General Linguistics Language Family(ies): Creole Meeting Description: The Society of Pidgin and Creole Linguistics will meet at the University of Cologne, Germany, August 11-15, 2009, in conjunction with the Associação de Crioulos de Base Lexical Portuguesa e Espanhola (ACBLPE). Programme There are 3 parallel sessions, 2 for SPCL and 1 for ACBLPE. Papers will be 25 minutes in length (discussion included). There will also be a poster session on pertinent issues of contact linguistics and Pidgin and Creole studies. Preliminary Programme 11th of August: 3.30 pm - 6 pm: APiCS Meeting for APiCS Contributors (but open for all Creolists) organised by Susanne Michaelis (michaelis eva.mpg.de),Philippe Maurer, Magnus Huber and Martin Haspelmath 6 pm - 7 pm: Opening Ceremony 7 pm - 8 pm: Registration Dinner 12th of August: 8.30 am - 9 am: Registration 9 am - 5 pm: First Panel Session ''Bilingual Literacy and Creole Languages'', followed by Conference Papers Afternoon Programme tba 13th of August: 8.30 am - 2 pm: Second Panel Session ''Fieldwork Ethics'', followed by Conference Papers 3.30 pm - 5.30 pm: Rhine Ferry Tour 7.30 pm: Conference Dinner 14th of August: 8.30 am - 5 pm: Conference, ending with Closing Ceremony Afternoon Programme tba 15th of August: Excursion to the Surroundings of Cologne Business Meetings tba For more information, please visit the conference website.
