The College of Liberal Arts at Morgan State University, Baltimore, Maryland, has an immediate opening for a full-time Administrative Coordinator for a federal grant, Project ABCDE, Accelerating Baltimore Children's Development through Education. Competitive salary. The position is a fill-in appointment until September 30, 2008 with renewal pending successful performance and the availability of funding. Duties: The administrative coordinator is responsible for the administrative workings of the grant, a position including but not limited to the following: promoting the project ('Project ABCDE'); scheduling workshops and meetings; generating and maintaining databases of evaluative measurements concerning student recruitment, retention and post-exit tools to be used to measure progress, and assisting with the design of objective and reliable evaluation instruments for Project ABCDE. The administrative coordinator will also troubleshoot admission/registration/billing problems. The coordinator will also be responsible for contacting all partners, and Advisory Board members; designing, managing and updating the project web site, locating and reserving classrooms and other facilities as needed, ordering resources for courses and workshops, cataloging and organizing acquisitions, organizing and maintaining relevant databases on the program, assisting with the preparation of quarterly reports, and ensuring that grades are submitted to the registrar's office on time, among other duties determined by the PI. Qualifications: A graduate degree in professional and technical writing, education, linguistics, or a related field is desired. However, candidates with a Bachelor's degree and commensurate experience will be considered. The applicant must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and be a dedicated and innovative team player. Use of Excel, Publisher, and/or other project management technologies is required. Experience writing reports and managing grants is a plus. Position involves some travel between grant sites in Baltimore and Prince George's County. Applicant must have own transportation and be authorized to work. The University: Morgan State University is an HBCU with the distinct designation as Maryland's public urban university. It is committed at the undergraduate level to the liberal arts, sciences, business, architecture, education and engineering. Undergraduates may pursue studies in 39 areas of concentration as well as in pre-professional fields of pharmacy, dentistry, medicine, medical technology and law. At the graduate level, the University offers 21 master's degree programs, including programs in the arts and sciences, business, education, built-environment studies (i.e., architecture, landscape architecture, city and regional planning), engineering, public health, social work and transportation.
