Description:
The City University of Hong Kong invites applications for the following
post. Candidates with applied research achievements will receive very
positive consideration. Relevant experience in business and industry will
be a definite asset.
Assistant Professor in Linguistics in the Department of Chinese,
Translation and Linguistics [Ref. C/774/09]
Duties
Teach and supervise students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels,
including BA, MA, MPhil and PhD. Candidates with a proven record of
publications or strong research potential preferred.
Requirements
A PhD degree in Linguistics or related disciplines. Able to undertake
teaching and research in one or more of the following areas: Phonetics,
Phonology, Syntax, Semantics and Discourse, and experience in the
comparative analysis of at least two languages, preferably Chinese, and
either English, Japanese or Korean required. The ability to work well with
colleagues is essential.
(The successful candidates are expected to assume duty in September 2008.

Salary and Conditions of Service
Salary offered will be highly competitive and commensurate with the
candidate's qualifications and experience. Appointment will be on a
fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract; fringe benefits include annual leave,
medical and dental schemes, and housing benefits where applicable.
