By way of diversion I have been collecting ways in English of putting down someone: e.g., not playing with a full deck; has a screw loose; his/her elevator doesn't go to the top floor. Can somebody tell me (1) the name(s) of the editor(s) of the 1984 Proceedings of the Berkeley Linguistics Society (the one with an article by A.L.Becker in it), and (2) the name(s) of the editor(s) of the 1973 CLS (9th Regional Meeting), with R. Lakoff's paper on politeness in it? Also, CLS is published by the Department of Linguistics, University of Chicago, isn't it?
