Victor Raskin, Chair of Linguistics at Purdue University, is setting
up a symposium on "Approaches to the Taxonomy of Humor." What he
has in mind is something for humor studies that is equivalent to
Mendeleyev's Periodic Table for Chemistry. Noam Chomsky once had
a similar project in mind for Linguistics. Any linguists who are
interested in proposing a paper for this symposium should write to
Victor Raskin, Chair of Linguistics, Heavilon Hall, Purdue University,
West Lafayette, IN 47907.

 The Ninth International Conference on Linguistic Humor will be
held at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada from
June 26-30, 1991. Brock University is only a few miles from
