A number of people in the Dept. of Dutch of the University of Utrecht would like to learn about computer programs performing grammar and/or style checking, specifically on personal computers. The idea is to learn about other people's experiences (with other languages) before we decide to start research aimed at the development of such a system for Dutch. We are interested in all kinds of information, for example: - What programs are available? Where? For what costs? On what kinds of machines? Etc. - What kind of output does a program generate? (E.g. short comments on particular topics, or large sized reports on any relevant feature (as STYLE on Unix-systems does)). - What kind of computational mechanisms are used? (E.g. pattern recognition or parsing on the basis of a complete grammar). - Do the programs come with documenation? - Has any research been published about how and when people use such programs and how they evaluate them? - Etc., etc. We would greatly appreciate all relevant information. We are willing to post the information, or to send it directly to your e-mail address (please indicate if you're interested).
