Editor for this issue: Luiza Newlin Lukowicz <luizalinguistlist.org>

The LINGUIST List strongly encourages employers to use non-discriminatory standards in hiring policy. In particular we urge that employers do not discriminate on the grounds of race, ethnicity, nationality, age, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. However, we have no means of enforcing these standards.

Job seekers should pay special attention to language in ads regarding employment requirements and are encouraged to consult our international employment page at http://linguistlist.org/jobs/jobnet.html. This page has been set up so that people can report on the employment standards of various countries.

In this longitudinal project, the translation processes of students and
professional translators are monitored at different points in their
translation careers. The multi-method approach we are using includes
interviews, surveys, keystroke logging, computer screenshot recording,
eye-tracking, cue-based retrospective verbalizations, and text analysis.
The translation versions are English/French/Italian into German and German
into English/French/Italian (i.e. translation into L1 and into L2). A
project description can be found at

- matriculation in a doctoral program in Translation, (Applied)
Linguistics, or a related field
- MA degree or equivalent in Translation, (Applied) Linguistics, or a
related field
- background in empirical research and data analysis
- interest in translation process research
- excellent proficiency (oral and written) in German and English as well as

- familiarity with standard MS Office or similar applications
- Swiss/EU citizenship or a suitable work permit for Switzerland

Desirable qualifications:

- familiarity with data analysis applications such as SPSS

Further details:
The conditions of the project funding allow for a doctoral research
assistant to work 50% on the project and 50% on his or her own
dissertation, ideally within the framework of the project. The starting
salary is CHF 39,600.

The review of applications will start immediately and continue until the
position is filled. Applicants should send their curriculum vita, a short
statement of interest, the name of the doctoral supervisor and university
of matriculation as well as the names and email addresses of two references
to the email address listed below (put CTPDOC in the subject line).

Application Deadline: This position has been filled.
