Lecturer in Chinese Language and Linguistics Academic Level B Reference: A213-09AV The Faculty of Asian Studies wishes to appoint a Lecturer (Level B) in Chinese Language and Linguistics. The successful applicant will possess: native or near-native speaker fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English and a broad knowledge of linguistics, especially Chinese linguistics. Applicants should preferably possess a PhD, or equivalent, in Chinese language teaching or a related field and proven potential to contribute to research excellence in Chinese language studies. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate: a high level skill in teaching Mandarin Chinese as a foreign language to English-speaking students from beginners to advanced levels, in an adult learning environment; the ability to teach English-Chinese translation and contribute to a graduate program in translation; and willingness to develop and teach on-line language courses. In addition, applicants should have the ability and willingness to supervise students at Honours, Postgraduate and Research degree levels.
