Description:
The Centre for English Language Communication (CELC) at the National University of Singapore invites applications for the post of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer. CELC runs a range of courses which include English Proficiency, English for Academic Purposes, English for Specific Purposes, Business Communication, Critical Thinking and Writing, English for Graduate Students, and Thesis Writing. The Centre also runs courses and special programmes for the university's corporate and administrative staff. For more information on the Centre and its activities please visit www.nus.edu.sg/celc. Qualifications: Candidates should possess - a Master of Arts degree in Applied Linguistics, TESOL or related field - specialisation in English language testing and other qualifications in related areas - a sound record of and a strong commitment to teaching, with a minimum of five years teaching experience at the tertiary level. Responsibilities: The successful candidate is expected to - teach various courses, both at undergraduate or postgraduate levels - undertake pedagogical research - engage in pedagogic and research work in the area of language testing, including the construction and validation of English language tests, especially for large scale testing situations. Additional Information: The commencing salary is competitive and will depend on the candidate's qualifications, experience and level of appointment offered. The successful candidate will be required to commence work in December 2009. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified. Please provide: - a detailed curriculum vitae - copies of transcripts/degree scrolls - course outlines of courses taught in the last 3 years - student/staff evaluations of courses taught in the last 3 years - statement of teaching philosophy and methodology (max. 1000 words) - statement of major accomplishments in research or other scholarly contribution (max.1500 words) - names, addresses (including email) of three referees.
