Conference Announcement:
We are pleased to announce an international conference "Language Teaching in
Increasingly Multilingual Environments: From Research to Practice", which will
take place in September 2010 at the scenic campus of the University of Warsaw.
The aim of the conference is to provide a multilingual, international platform
for exploration and exchange of research findings, perspectives, and experience
in language teaching and language development in multilingual environments. The
event will bring together academics, researchers, teacher trainers, materials
writers, practitioners, and students concerned with foreign/second language
acquisition and instruction. Special emphasis will be given to empirical
research which can inform foreign language teaching practice. The event will
combine plenary addresses, roundtable discussions, paper sessions in thematic
strands, and a poster session.

The University of Warsaw, est. 1816, is the largest university in Poland, with
nearly 60,000 students from all corners of the globe. Its main campus is located
in the heart of the metropolis hailed a 'World Class City' by the 'Lonely
Planet' guides. The conference venue - the recently refurbished Old Library -
lies is in the centre of the scenic university grounds among several historic
palaces.
Call for Papers:
Proposals are invited for high-quality, original 20-minute oral presentations
and posters that broadly fall within the following themes and topics:
A. Language instruction, acquisition and learning, including CLIL, bilingual
education, and TLA;
B. Resources and technology, including native- and non-native corpus-based
materials;
C. Language assessment and program evaluation;
D. Special education, including sign language and teaching students with a
visual impairment.
Paper Submission:
Please send two copies of an abstract of no more than 300 words (excluding
references), in .rtf format, as e-mail attachments to Michal.Paradowski[-AT-]
uw.edu.pl by November 30, 2009. The e-mail should use the subject header "LTIME
submission", your last name and initials, the language of your submission, the
letter of your chosen thematic strand, and whether you intend to present a
paper, poster, or colloquium, e.g.: LTIME submission Smith JH French C paper.
The body of the message ought to include the following information:
(a) Title of the submission
(b) Name(s) and affiliation of the author(s); please capitalise your surname;
(c) First author's e-mail and postal address;
(d) The chosen thematic strand under which you would like your submission to appear;
(e) The language of the submission (English, Polish, French, German, Russian);
(f) Type of presentation intended: please indicate whether your proposal is to
be considered for a paper or poster;
(g) Equipment needs.
One copy of the abstract, in a file "yoursurname_initials_named.rtf" (e.g.
"Smith_JH_named.rtf") should include the author's name and affiliation written
under the title; the other copy, in a file "yoursurname_initials_anonym.rtf"
(e.g. "Smith_JH_anonym.rtf"), must be headed only by the title of the paper,
refrain from self-reference, and mention neither the presenter(s) nor their
affiliations or addresses.
Please include the word count at the bottom of the page; submissions exceeding
the word limit will be automatically rejected.
Submitters should receive a confirmation of receipt of the abstract within 7
days of dispatch.
Paper Publication:
Authors of papers accepted for presentation will be invited to submit their
papers for publication in an edited stand-alone volume with an international
publisher. Papers will be subjected to refereeing.
Important Dates:
Abstract submission deadline for individual papers and posters: November 30,
2009, 23.59 EST.
Notification of acceptance/rejection: February 15, 2010.
