Alelo develops interactive learning environments for developing foreign language skills and intercultural competencies. Alelo develops new interactive learning technologies, and integrates these technologies into advanced learning products. We place particular emphasis on conversational agent technologies and game-based learning environments. Alelo systems are being used worldwide to prepare individuals for overseas assignments, and to help learners quickly acquire task-oriented communication skills. We are seeking mid-level to senior researchers to contribute to the development of next generation Natural Language Processing for education and training applications. Candidates should enjoy working in fast-paced, collaborative, multidisciplinary teams. They should value the opportunity to see their research realized in innovative learning environments that make a difference and provide real benefit to learners. Requirements: - PhD or equivalent work experience in computer science, artificial intelligence (AI), or related cognitive science disciplines - Research experience in one or more of the following areas: parsing, language modeling, dialog modeling, machine translation, information retrieval, information extraction - Good publication record and English writing skills - Solid programming skills, preferably in Java, Python, and/or AI programming languages - Ability or potential to plan and organize research activities Experience with grant writing and leading scientific projects is a strong plus. Based in Los Angeles, Alelo has a vibrant and growing interdisciplinary team of specialists in intelligent learning environments, instructional design, serious games, natural language and spoken dialog systems, linguistics, anthropology, and the media arts.
