Description:
The Japan Program in the Faculty of Asian Studies, College of Asia and the Pacific at the Australian National University invites applications for a PhD Teaching Fellowship in Japanese Studies (including linguistics, literature, history and cultural studies). You will be employed to teach in the Japan Program for three years on a 40% of full-time equivalent Academic Level A position. Funding for fieldwork is also available. At the same time, you will undertake a full-time course of study leading to the PhD, working under the supervision of one or more of the Japan specialists in the College of Asia and the Pacific, and will not only develop research and writing skills, but also be trained in teaching and course management. Applicants must have applied and been ranked for a PhD scholarship for study at the ANU: for Australian/New Zealand students, an Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) or ANU PhD Scholarship and for international students, an Endeavour International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (EIPRS) (see below application closing dates). International students will also be offered a tuition fee sponsorship. Applicants should have at least a second class honours degree or equivalent or Masters degree in a relevant subject. Students with a background in linguistics and Japanese language teaching experience are especially encouraged to apply.
