Semantic Theory and Empirical Evidence Date: 18-Sep-2009 - 19-Sep-2009 Location: Osnabrück, Germany Contact: Carla Umbach Contact Email: empiricalevidence cogsci.uos.de Meeting URL: http://www.cogsci.uni-osnabrueck.de/~empiricalEvidence Linguistic Field(s): Cognitive Science; Psycholinguistics; Semantics Meeting Description: Semantic theory in the Montagovean tradition mainly relies on speakers' judgments on the meaning and use of linguistic expressions. In recent years there has been considerable increase of interest in empirical data that go beyond intuitive judgments and include data resulting from experiments investigating the production and comprehension of linguistic utterances. The aim of the workshop is to clarify the role of empirical evidence in the investigation of the semantics of natural languages.
