The R&D department consists of a highly international and dynamic team, with word-class expertise in software engineering, signal processing and linguistics. We are seeking to strengthen this team with a TTS language development engineer, with focus on extending and improving our language portfolio. You will work on existing and new language packages (lingware), with tasks spanning from troubleshooting and improving lingware, to train and supervise native experts for developing new lingware. You will also work on improving existing development tools as well as programming new ones. Tasks / Responsibilities: *improving existing tools and writing new ones *developing text analysis packages -text pre-processing -morphological analysis -syntactical analysis -phonological modeling -accentuation and phrasing modeling *developing/improving signal generation packages -prepare text material for recordings -supervising recordings -creating speech databases -analyzing and identifying problem units in the speech synthesis module -setting up tools to replace or improve problem units *managing lingware development/update projects -linguistic pre-study of language to develop -recruiting temporary language specialists -training and supervising specialist throughout the *development project -planning time and resources -reintegrating results and version control -responding to specific customer project needs Qualifications and Expert Knowledge: -Masters degree in linguistics, computer science or related field -2+ years experience in text-to-speech technology -Experience with version control systems (e.g. SVN) is desirable -Experience with issue tracking systems (e.g. Trac) is desirable -Good programming and scripting skills - Experience in project management and/or supervision is a plus Personal Requirements: -Profound interest in speech technology and natural language processing -Ability to quickly understand complex systems and processes -Fluent in English plus at least one other language -Hands-on, self-starter and analytic -Team player -High quality standards -Willingness to relocate to Zurich, Switzerland Start date: October 2009
