Description:
The Department of French, University of Victoria, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in French, effective 1 July 2010. Candidates must specialize in linguistics, with a preference in French-Canadian Linguistics and/or diachronic studies. Responsibilities include the teaching of French language and culture courses at all levels, as well as specialized courses in the candidate's area of research at the undergraduate and graduate levels, supervision of graduate students, and contributions to the Department in terms of curriculum development, research and committee duties. Candidates must have their Ph.D. in hand by December 31, 2009, have native or near-native fluency in French and in English, be excellent teachers (as evidenced by a teaching dossier, including evaluations and a summary of achievements), have a publication record and potential for research funding. Potential for collaboration in research and/or teaching is an asset for this position. Proficiency as well as experience using new technology in teaching and/or research is required for this position.
