D-SPIN Legal Constraints for Digital Language Resources

Date: 28-Sep-2009 - 28-Sep-2009
Location: Berlin, Germany
Contact: Marc Kupietz

Meeting URL: http://www.ids-mannheim.de/d-spin/ap7ws09.html

Linguistic Field(s): Text/Corpus Linguistics

Meeting Description:

The aim of the workshop is to discuss individual approaches and best practices
to deal with problems related to legal restrictions concerning the collection,
distribution, and use of linguistic data, e.g. text corpora, audio and video
resources. Moreover, ethical problems when dealing with, e.g. endangered
languages, are discussed. These issues become increasingly important when
language resources are included in the currently evolving e-research
infrastructures as, e.g. the European ESFRI-project CLARIN or its German
counterpart D-SPIN are aiming at.

The workshop is organised by the D-SPIN-project that is funded by the German
Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). There is no registration
fee. However, participants are required to register at
http://www.ids-mannheim.de/d-spin/ap7ws09.html as soon as possible.
