Salary range: A$70,566 - A$83,799 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: A$82,563 - A$98,046 per annum. Overview: The School of Languages and Linguistics (LAL) seeks to appoint a Lecturer in English (ESL/EFL) as part of the broader English Language Enhancement Strategy for international students at Griffith University. The successful applicant will be able to respond to Griffith University's current strengths in linguistic research on culture and communication in undertaking the teaching of English to students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. The appointee will convene and teach English language enhancement courses in cooperation with staff from the Griffith English Language Institute (GELI), as well as undertake research in areas related to the teaching and learning of English. The role: Your primary teaching role will be to convene undergraduate English language enhancement courses across multiple campuses, continue developing the curriculum and materials for these courses, as well teach into those undergraduate English language enhancement courses in cooperation with other staff. You will also conduct research leading to publications and research grants in the area of English language learning and teaching, as well as supervising Honours and Postgraduate students in appropriate areas. You will undertake administrative responsibilities for the program, School and Faculty, participate actively in school, faculty and university meetings and forum, and contribute to the profession of ESL/EFL and Applied Linguistics both within the University and in the broader (academic) community. The person: The successful applicant will hold a PhD in English as a Second Language or related area and recent experience teaching ESL at tertiary level, including the ability to apply creative approaches to teaching and learning and develop innovative course materials. You will also need to provide leadership in delivering courses in collaboration with a support teaching team. You will have demonstrated the capacity to publish high quality research and supervise Honours, Masters, and PhD theses in appropriate areas. The capacity to attract research funds and expertise in CALL will also be looked upon favourably. This position is offered as a continuing full time appointment.
