Description:
The Linguistics Program at Monash University seeks to fill a continuing position to be taken up in July 2010 with a linguist who has a dynamic research and teaching profile. In particular, the Linguistics Program is seeking a linguist with strength in Australian Aboriginal languages and general linguistics as well as either: semantics and pragmatics or phonetics/phonology. Teaching competency in one or more of the following areas is also desirable: discourse analysis, intercultural communication, or literacy. Members of the Linguistics Program teach units from first year to honours at undergraduate level, and have graduate programs leading to Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Linguistics, Masters by coursework and/or by research, and PhD by research alone. The Program offers units on campus, by flexible delivery, distance education, and through Open Universities Australia. In addition to being competent to teach (all delivery modes) in several of the areas identified above, the successful applicant will be expected to undertake supervision of research students, engage in original and innovative research, be prepared to collaborate in research, team teaching, and curriculum development, and undertake a share of administrative tasks within the program and/or School.
