It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Natalja Yulievna
Shvedova, who died on Friday 18 September, in Moscow, aged 92.

Natalja Yulievna (the youngest natural daughter of a well-known Russian
literary critic Yulij Isaevich Aikhenvald) was a true matriarch of the
grammar of Russian, and the author of the 'Academic grammar of Russian', in
addition to many other books. She will be missed by students, colleagues,
and relatives.
