Description:
Pomona College announces a tenure track position in Spanish linguistics at the Assistant Professor level Beginning July 1, 2010. Expertise in sociolinguistics or applied linguistics highly desirable. We are especially interested in candidates who could teach in one or more of these sub-fields: phonetics, dialectology, history of the Spanish language, Spanish second-language acquisition. Applicants must have a Ph.D., by August 2010, in an appropriate area of Spanish linguistics and a native or near-native command of Spanish. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in both teaching and scholarship within a diverse liberal arts environment and be expected to teach four courses per year, including linguistics and Spanish language at all levels. Salary will be competitive. Interviews at the MLA Convention. Applicants should submit a letter of application detailing research interests, CV, graduate transcripts, statement of teaching philosophy, writing samples and three recent letters of recommendation (including one that addresses teaching) to the address below.
