Call Deadline: 08-Nov-2009

Meeting Description:

Every year the Anéla (Dutch Society for Applied Linguistics) organizes the
so-called Juniorenstudiedag ('junior study day'), which is devoted to the work
of junior researchers. This year, the Junior day will for the first time be
organized in collaboration wit the VIOT, the Dutch and Flemish Interuniversity
Association for Speech Communication. The Junior day offers PhD students and
graduate students in the field of applied linguistics (language use, language
acquisition, education, discourse, or communication) the opportunity to present
their work in an informal setting. During the Junior day, the yearly Anéla-VIOT
Scriptieprijs will be awarded to the best BA- or MA-thesis in the area of
applied linguistics.

On Friday, January 29th, 2010 the 20st Junior day will be held at Leiden
University. The Junior day starts with a lecture by a plenary speaker, followed
by parallel sessions in which graduate students and PhD-students can present
their work. There will also be poster-presentations in the afternoon. The day
will end with drinks and a ceremony for the Anéla-VIOT scriptieprijs. Moreover,
there will also be a special surprise event to celebrate the fact that the
Junior day is organized for the 20th time this year.

Call for Papers

If you would like to present a paper or a poster on the Junior day, please
upload your abstract on http://linguistlist.org/confcustom/anelaj2010 before 8
November 2009. Abstracts (in pdf or word format) should not exceed 200 words
excluding references. Personal information (name, university etc) should not be
mentioned in the abstract, but only on the form where you can upload your

presentation. Abstracts in Dutch as well as in English are welcome. More
information about the Junior study day is available on the Anéla-website
www.anela.nl.
