Description:
Linguistics at the University of the Witwatersrand seeks to employ a full-time staff member at the Lecturer level in 2010. The appointee should be a specialist either in phonetics and/or phonology, or in psycholinguistics. Staff members lecture and tutor students across all years, and are required to produce research and supervise postgraduate students. The curriculum of the department concentrates on the formal disciplines of linguistics - phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax and semantics. There is also a strong emphasis on sociolinguistics. Requirements: a Ph.D., teaching experience and a promising research record. Research interests in African languages, bilingualism and/or cognitive semantics would be a recommendation. Remuneration: The position will be paid commensurately with the qualifications and experience of successful applicant.
