Description:
The School of International Letters and Cultures at Arizona State University seeks to appoint a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Spanish with a specialization in the area of sociolinguistics beginning in August 2010. Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Spanish Linguistics or related field by time of appointment, August 16, 2010, and must have native or near-native proficiency in both Spanish and English. Preferred qualifications include demonstrated effective college level teaching experience; research on sociolinguistics of Spanish of the Southwest; a record of published scholarship; and interest in participating in the further development of the ASU Spanish Sociolinguistics MA Program. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate courses. Application deadline: December 1, 2009; if not filled, applications will be evaluated weekly thereafter until the search is closed. Application package must include a CV, letter of interest detailing qualifications, research, and teaching experience; a journal article-length writing sample; three letters of recommendation, which should be sent separately to the search committee by the referees; and a list of three additional professional references (including names, addresses, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses). All materials are to be sent to the address below. No electronic or faxed applications are accepted. For return of reprints, enclose a large self-addressed envelope with adequate postage.
