MIAMI UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF EDUCATION, HEALTH & SOCIETY DEPARTMENT OF TEACHER EDUCATION TESOL / Language Education Position Announcement Duties: - Clinical/Professional Faculty or Assistant Professor to teach introductory and advanced courses in second language acquisition, TESOL, and/or applied linguistics; advise students and provide service to the University. - Additional duties of an Assistant Professor include conducting and publishing research in high-quality peer-reviewed professional publications. Required: - For appointment as Clinical/Professional: Masters in education in applied linguistics, second language acquisition, or closely related field; experience with TESOL, excellent communication skills in English; demonstrated expertise with contemporary instructional technologies; documentation of superior teaching ability, professional license or professional certificate/degree, knowledge of multicultural education or background in working with diverse student populations in P-12 or higher education. - For appointment as Assistant Professor: Earned doctorate in applied linguistics, second language acquisition, or closely related field; experience with TESOL, excellent communication skills in English; demonstrated expertise with contemporary instructional technologies; knowledge of multicultural education or background in working with diverse student populations in P-12 or higher education. (ABD candidates are encouraged to apply; doctorate must be completed by date of appointment) Desired: - Special consideration will be given to candidates who have prior experience with culturally and linguistically diverse students; proficiency in at least one foreign language, with preference for Asian language; experience in interdisciplinary teaching innovations; and can show evidence of collaborative abilities. - Assistant Professor candidates with demonstrated evidence of effective higher education teaching, experience with infusion, grantsmanship, and research activity that indicates a potential for continuing systematic inquiry and scholarship. Complete application requires a letter of interest addressing the criteria listed above as well as a statement indicating prior experience, personal attributes, skills and other relevant information that qualifies the applicant for the position as Clinical/Professional Faculty or Assistant Professor; full curriculum vita, three letters of reference, reference contact details, and a copy of university transcripts.
