Meeting Description:

It is a fact that the law pervades many aspects of our lives and the use and function of its language constitute the essentials on which the precepts of law itself are established. The interconnection between law and language provides a continuous source of analytical insights for researchers working in a variety of disciplines. It also gives us an opportunity to refine our current understanding of language and law from an interdisciplinary perspective.

As part of its commitment to research in the field of language and law, the Faculty of Law of the Seconda Università degli Studi di Napoli (University of Naples 2) is pleased to announce its first international workshop The Language of Law - pulling together different strands and disciplines, to be held in Santa Maria Capua Vetere, Caserta, Italy in June 2010.

For the plenary lecture the following keynote speaker has been invited:

Schedule:

The Workshop will start the morning of the 1st day and close in the evening of the 2nd day.

Workshop Venue:

The workshop will take place at the Aulario, a recently-opened Teaching and Conference Facility shared by the Faculties of Law and Humanities of the Seconda Università degli Studi di Napoli, and located in Santa Maria Capua Vetere, Caserta.

Equipment:

The conference rooms in the Aulario are equipped with OHP, microphone and video projector for Powerpoint (Windows) presentations. In addition to Powerpoint presentations, speakers should bring as many photocopied handouts as they think appropriate. Photocopying facilities are not available. Speakers and other conference participants will have access to dedicated computing and Internet facilities through the University Language Laboratory (open on the Conference days) in Aulario.

Late registration from 1 April to 30 May 2010: Euro 180
