Call for Papers

Resumo: Este trabalho pretende aplicar no texto A carteira, de Machado de
Assis, a teoria de significado proposta pelo lingüista lituano Algirdas Julien
Greimas, que considera o trabalho de construção do sentido como um percurso
gerativo. A escolha do texto foi feita por ser o autor um escritor com uma
linguagem sutil e, principalmente, por seu olhar literário ter abrangido a
condição humana. Neste conto curto, mas rico é possível examinar, ainda que
sucintamente, os componentes sintáticos e semânticos nas estruturas
fundamentais, narrativas e discursivas, e perceber como Assis desconstrói o
valor da amizade e retrata a infidelidade como resultado da relação entre
marido e mulher e entre amigos.
Palavras-chave: semiótica, percurso gerativo, relações humanas, sociedade.

Abstract: This work intends to apply in the text A carteira, by Machado de
Assis, the theory of meaning proposed by the Latvian linguistic Algirdas Julien
Greimas, who considers the work of sense building as a generative course. The
text was selected because the author is a writer with a subtle language and,
mainly, for his literary sight about the human condition. In this short but
profuse tale we can examine preliminarily the syntactics and semantics
components in the structures, fundamental, narrative and discursive, and also
realize how Assis disrupts the friendship value and reveals the infidelity as a
result among husband, wife and friends.
