Qs: Data on Negation Needed for Select Languages

Editor for this issue: Elyssa Winzeler <elyssalinguistlist.org>

We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have taken the trouble to respond to the query.

To post to LINGUIST, use our convenient web form at http://linguistlist.org/LL/posttolinguist.html.

Dear All,

I need to complete my dataset on negation for the languages listed below. I
have the basic facts on negation for all of them but I haven't been able to
find answers to all the questions in my questionnaire in the sources I
consulted -- that is to say the standard grammars. For most of the
languages listed below all I need are one or two examples, usually a
locative sentence with a definite subject such as 'Tom is at home' vs. 'Tom
is not at home'.

Here are the languages I need help with:

Awa-Pit (Cuaiquer)

Any help or pointers to sources other than the already published grammars
of these languages will be greatly appreciated.

My best wishes,

Linguistic Field(s): Typology
