Description:
General The Department of Language and Communication of the Faculty of Arts brings linguists from various language backgrounds together in one department and is responsible for a range of BA and MA degrees in the Faculty. The Spanish language section contributes Spanish linguistics and Spanish language skills courses to various BA degrees. The faculty has a so-called double-major system, where students combine two major programmes. The Spanish major programme is an option for students of English, Communication & Information Sciences, Linguistics, and Dutch. Job description Teaching: You will teach at all levels within the BA programmes to which the Spanish language section contributes Research: You will carry out linguistic research on discourse-oriented phenomena in the Spanish language. Your research will be part of the Language, Cognition and Communication (LCC) research group, which participates in the interfaculty research institute CAMeRA (www.camera.vu.nl). Management: You will contribute to the restructuring of the Spanish major progamme. Requirements - You have a PhD in Spanish Linguistics or a related discipline; - You have relevant teaching experience in Higher Education; - You have experience of integrating ICT in teaching; - You have excellent communicative and organizational skills. - You are qualified as a teacher (BKO) or prepared to get a BKO (Basis Kwalificatie Onderwijs) Appointment details - This is a 60% position, available not later than 1 Feburary 2010; - The appointment will be for a period of two years, after which continuation of this position will evaluated; - General conditions of employment can be found at www.vu.nl/vacatures; - Non-native speakers of Dutch will be expected to have developed a relevant command of the Dutch language within a period of two years. Salary The maximum gross monthly salary will be € 4.374,- on the basis of a fulltime position (salary scale 11).
